2021 CATEGORIES & PRIZES

Please note:

All artworks must original works by the artist entering– not made in a workshop, not from a pattern, or copied from another artwork.

All works must adhere to the size restriction of 110cm on the longest side for 2D works. 3D works must fit into 110cm squared.

Judges will select all the winners, excluding the People's Choice, and no correspondence will be entered into. Winners will be selected using the criteria, firstly, of creativity and innovation and secondly on expertise in the medium used.

Categories
PAINTINGS - $1000
All paint mediums and substrates including: oil, acrylic and watercolour and mixed media where paint is the main media used.

WORKS ON PAPER - $1000
Including but not limited to: ink, pastel, graphite, pen, digital painting and drawing (need to be printed), intaglio, lino cut, wood block, etching, and mixed media.
PHOTOGRAPHY- $1000
Includes: film and digital, and alternative processes including, but not limited to, cyanotypes, albumen, bromoils, pinhole, platinum, wet plate, anthotypes, polaroid transfers, and photobooks (must provide white gloves if required and will be displayed flat on a plinth).

TEXTILE ART - The Hetty van Boven Award - $1000
Sponsored by the van Boven family + community donations
Open to all art quilters and other textile artists working with fibre, threads and fabrics and are encouraged to explore traditional and non-traditional practices: quilting, felting, embroidery, sewing, weaving, knitting, crocheting. Work that can be hung on display boards or displayed on plinths (artist must supply display device if artwork needs to be displayed on a plinth).
3D - $1000
Artworks created in three dimensions including the following processes: construction, assemblage, carving, modelling (clay) and casting.

People's Choice - $500
Public voting will commence at the opening night and continue for the duration of the exhibition. The winner will be contacted via phone and email and will be announced on the SBBAA Facebook page and this website.
