This will be a hands-on workshop to allow participants to mat and frame a photograph archivally. Participants have the opportunity to cut their own matboard, mat window and foamcore and attach their photograph ready to be fitted to an 8” x 10” frame of their choice. If participants bring a frame, they can also fix the matted image to the frame, ready to hang. Please note the matboard supplied is white, but participants can bring their own mat board and/or foamcore/backing if they wish.

What to bring:

  • A photograph or painting to suit an 8” x 10” frame. This means the photograph/painting will be less than 8” x 10” in size to allow a suitable mat border to be made.

  • OPTIONAL - A suitable 8” x 10” frame to accept the matted photograph

The workshop will  cover:

  • The why and how of archival matting processes

  • Materials and tools used and some suppliers

  • Costs of tools and materials
