ARTIST STATEMENT – MARILYN LEITCH
I have always loved drawing and performed well at school in the creative arts. I believe we all have gifts and talents in some area or another so it seemed logical to me to develop my skills and branch out into painting. Even though I have had many years away from painting with family and work commitments, I have recently retired and am again returning to what I enjoy and what I can share with others to hopefully enjoy also.

My love of nature dominates my work whether it be bird life, wildlife, domestic animals or pets and landscapes. My aim is to bring my subject to life so that people can relate to my work and enjoy it. I aim to capture the beauty that surrounds us every day in Australia. I can, and have, painted other subjects, especially if commissions require.

I was trained in oil painting, but have found that I now prefer acrylics and have dabbled in watercolours. My pencil drawings have also been well received. In 2018 I was fortunate to sell both of my artworks at the David Bryce Art Exhibition, Kingaroy where I received People's Choice award for my kookaburras. I hope to continue to exhibit my work in this region and beyond where I have had recent success in several galleries and cafes in the area.
